When tickets for last weekends edition of Pinkpop went on sale I was waiting behind my computer to buy them. Just like the rest of my family. But I was the only one who managed to get through and buy tickets! I ended up being able to buy 12 daytickets for the Saturday and last Saturday we went to Pinkpop with a big part of my family, to see The Rolling Stones perform live in the Netherlands for the first time since 2007. I already talked about this before, but I kinda grew up with their music. When I was younger I would sit on my dad’s shoulders, dancing around the house on their music. Meanwhile, The Stones have been performing for 52 years now and my dad is close to visiting his 100th Stones concert! I’m close to ten times, and the rest of my family also likes to visit their concerts whenever they perform in The Netherlands (Pinkpop was their 37th performance in our little country). Last Saturday they finally performed in our country again, for the first time since 2007. And on the same grounds as when I first saw them live in 1999 (as a 9 years old girl).
Of course I did bring a camera and took some photos. I can tell a whole story about the concert, but I think the photos will speak for themselves. Here are some of my favorite photos I took from The Rolling Stones at Pinkpop 2014.
The performance was amazing, really great! The kind of show these man give at their age is unbelievable. A lot of younger artist can learn something from them. Mick Jagger is in his seventies, but super energetic and he is dancing around the entire stage from the beginning until the end, while visible enjoying it. Add a few lines in Dutch, some jokes about Dutch personalities and you have a great great night.
In about three weeks we will go again, when The Stones play Belgium! This time my boyfriend will also join us and I can’t wait! I love that I can finally share this experience with him. For me, The Stones are part of my youth, but a Stones concert is pure joy as well for me. So when I can share it with him it will be even better.
If you want to see more photos, I have a bigger selection on Facebook in a public album.
