I’m a big fan of fresh juices, but to be honest I don’t always take the time to make them. My dad makes fresh orange juice every morning. I repeat, every morning. And truth to be told: it doesn’t take that long to squeeze a few oranges. But cleaning up the mess afterwards takes so long! There is soft skin from the orange everywhere in the juicer and it get’s stuck on everything. Ugh. So whenever I am at my dad’s I enjoy a fresh orange juice in the morning but when I’m at home I usually make them when I get home from school or work. Or when I don’t have to start early. During the summer vacation I have a bit more time to squeeze oranges and experiment with them. The combination of orange, grapefruit and a very ripe (so sweet) banana turned out to be a perfect summer juice for me, a combination of sweet and a little bit sour. Here is the recipe for my summer juice.
Ingredients for 2 glasses
4 oranges
1 grapefruit
1 banana
Optional: paper umbrellas and strawberries
Squeeze the oranges and grapefruit. Cut the banana (the riper the banana the sweeter it will taste) into small pieces and put in a blender together with the orange and grapefruit juice. Blend very well, you can also use a hand blender if you want. Pour into two glasses and decorate with a paper umbrella and some strawberries. I used some fresh ones from the garden, those really are the best. The drink tastes even better if you put it in the fridge for at least halve an hour. Enjoy!
